The context travels with the payment
Tenant, lease or unit, amount, due date and invoice stay connected to the request instead of living in a spreadsheet or an inbox.
A line-by-line look at the two: what each one charges per rent payment, what each one includes, and where Stripe stays the better answer.
Stripe prices are Stripe’s published UK card rates. CasaPay prices are the current operator plan rates. Stripe is a trademark of Stripe, Inc. CasaPay is not affiliated with Stripe.
Stripe prices every transaction. CasaPay prices the rent it moves. Here is the difference on a normal rent book.
| The line item | Stripe | CasaPay RentLink |
|---|---|---|
| How you are charged | Per successful transaction, priced by card type and payment method. | A take rate on rent moved. No platform fee on the base Payment Link. |
| Monthly fee | £0 | £0 |
| Setup fee | £0 | £0 |
| Entry rate | 1.5% + 20p per payment — standard UK cards | Base Payment Link at a €0 platform fee: rent requests, reminders, payment links and open banking, paid or unpaid. |
| Fixed fee per payment | 20p per transaction, 35p on Klarna | — |
| Higher-cost cards | 2.5% + 20p on EEA cards · 2.8% + 20p on premium UK cards · 3.15% + 20p on international cards | One take rate on rent moved. No separate card-type surcharge on the operator. |
| Recurring rent collection | +0.7% of Billing volume on top of the payment fee | Included. Recurring rent requests and reminders are the base workflow. |
| Paid tier rate | Payments only — you add and pay for each extra product separately. | 1.5% of rent moved — cards, protected deposits, no-deposit options, verification, integrations and a payment guarantee configurable from 1 month. |
| Full risk stack | Not available. | 2.5% of rent moved — adds Rent on-time payout and Rent in advance. Cover extensions: +0.5pp for 3 months, +1.0pp for 6 months. |
| Cost on a £1,000 rent payment | £15.20 on a UK card · £25.20 on an EEA card · £31.70 on an international card — and nothing else is included at that price. | £15.00 at 1.5% · £25.00 at 2.5% — including the rent workflow, reconciliation, deposits and the guarantee tiers above. |
| Where the other option wins | The lowest published domestic card rate, 195 countries, 135+ currencies, 100+ payment methods, and no commitment beyond processing. If your whole job is checkout, that is excellent value. | Rent books where somebody has to chase, reconcile, evidence and cover the rent — and where a separate product per feature is the expensive part. |
CasaPay rates reflect current operator plan rates (base Payment Link, 1.5% and 2.5% of rent moved). Card, deposit, no-deposit and guarantee modules are subject to eligibility, limits, product terms and jurisdiction. Final published rate card subject to confirmation.
Card acceptance, hosted checkout and payment links, payouts, billing and developer primitives at global scale. Rent needs that payment to also behave like a rent obligation.
Three things operators notice first when the payment carries rental context.
Tenant, lease or unit, amount, due date and invoice stay connected to the request instead of living in a spreadsheet or an inbox.
Paid, late or failed stays tied to the rent record, so the next action is visible instead of implied.
Match what arrived to the tenant and the due date, not to a reference number somebody has to decode afterwards.
We would rather you choose well than choose us.
A per-transaction model charges you more the moment a tenant pays with a more expensive card. A take rate on rent moved keeps the operator invoice stable: you pay a share of the rent CasaPay actually collected, and the choice of funding rail stays a routing question rather than a line item.
That is why we publish one take rate per tier rather than a card-by-card price list. Bring your rent book and we will model the number with you.
On a domestic card payment the headline rates are close: Stripe at 1.5% + 20p, CasaPay at 1.5% of rent moved. The difference is what sits inside that number. CasaPay’s rate carries the rent workflow, reconciliation, deposit and no-deposit handling and a payment guarantee tier. With Stripe you pay for each of those separately, or build them.
A take rate on rent moved. The base Payment Link carries no CasaPay platform fee. Card payments, protected deposits, no-deposit options, verification, integrations and the payment guarantee sit in the 1.5% tier; Rent on-time payout and Rent in advance sit in the 2.5% tier. Guarantee cover can be extended by +0.5pp for 3 months and +1.0pp for 6 months.
Not as a separate line. Stripe publishes 2.5% + 20p for EEA cards, 2.8% + 20p for premium UK cards and 3.15% + 20p for international cards, plus 2% where currency conversion is required — so a mixed tenant base raises your effective rate. CasaPay prices the rent moved instead of the card used.
No decision is required before you talk to us, and we are not asking you to dismantle a stack that works. RentLink is designed as the rent layer around the payment. Which payment methods and providers are available for your portfolio depends on your configuration, jurisdiction and applicable agreements — we confirm that in the first conversation.
No. RentLink is intended to connect to the operator workflow rather than replace every PMS or accounting function. Creation paths range from Operator Portal, to an assisted no-code route, to API or embedded, depending on your setup.
They are optional RentLink modules, available only through RentLink rather than as standalone products, and subject to eligibility, limits, product terms and jurisdiction.
This private offline prototype validates locally. It does not send or save the information you enter.
